Background. leaders have critical role in facilitating the change process. Moreover, authentic leadership is considered as contemporary leader approach that influence nurse’s satisfaction. Therefore, the current study aims to explore the mediating influence of job satisfaction in the relationship between authentic leadership and perceived nurse’s readiness for change in health care organizations.
Method. descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational was employed among 367 registered nurses working in various hospitals types; public, private and university-affiliated hospitals. These hospitals are located in the capital city of Jordan, Amman. Random sampling was used to recruit the hospitals, while convenience sampling was used to recruit the nurses from elected hospitals. Data analysis were performed using SPSS version 25.
Result The result found that positive significant relationship between authentic leadership and perceived readiness for change (r=+0.419, p < 0.01) and between job satisfaction and perceived readiness for change (r=+0.471, p < 0.01). In addition, job satisfaction was correlated positively with authentic leadership (r=+0.471, p < 0.01). Furthermore, job satisfaction was partially mediating the relationship between authentic leadership and perceived readiness for change with the direct relationship was significant (B = .204, SE = .068, 95% CI [.0701, .3397]).
Conclusion The job satisfaction was partially mediating the relationship between authentic leadership and perceived readiness for change. This finding underscore the importance of fostering authentic leadership that can actively enhance the job satisfaction which in turn enhance preparedness to embrace the organizational change.
